Updated selection process for 2008 international events  

1/16/08 update:
Addendum to the China Open selection process:
Due to the much lower group airfare available if 10 people travel to the China Open, the CCE has decided eight (8) divers will be selected for this team instead of the original six (6) divers.

1/13/08 update:
Click here to see the new selection procedures for selected Grand Prix events, as the process for selecting teams for events in China and Russia has changed from what was previously announced.

The original decision by the CCE to send the World Cup Team to the China Open was based on the opportunity to stay in Beijing for three days after the World Cup and gain additional training time in the Olympic pool.  China has since declared that the Olympic pool will be closed following the World Cup for Olympic Games preparation.  Since this training opportunity is not possible, the CCE felt it was in the best interests of the World Cup Team to come home after the two-week stay in China, get throught the difficult time change adjustment and get back to solid training.  In addition, the CCE felt this was an excellent opportunity to send additional divers and coaches to a top level international competition.

The 2008 World Cup selection camp and the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships will be used to select teams for several international events.

The following teams will be selected at the World Cup selection camp, set for January 20-24 in Columbus, Ohio:

• 2008 World Cup (Beijing, China – February 19-24)
• 2008 China Open (Shenzhen, China – February 29-March 3)
• 2008 Russian Grand Prix (April 10-13)

Divers who are not qualified but would like to submit a petition to the CCE should contact CCE chair Bob Rydze at rridz@aol.com no later than 30 days prior to the start of the camp.

The following team will be selected by a panel of selectors at the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships (April 16-20 in Minneapolis, Minn.):

• Canada Cup (Montreal, Can. – May 1-4)
• The AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix ( Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – May 8-11)
