What are the backgrounds of the USA Diving Medical Team?
The USA Diving core Medical Team consists of Physicians, Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Physician Assistants, and Massage Therapists. In addition to the core team, a local support team is assembled prior to national events. This support team typically includes, but is not limited to, specialist such as Dentists, Optometrists, Opthamologists, and General Practice Physicians. The majority of the core Medical team members have been working with USA Diving for at least 5 years.

Is there a USA Diving Medical Team member at all USA Diving events?
USA Diving Medical Personnel are present at national competitions as well as international competitions.

Who can I contact with questions regarding banned medications/substances?
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) Drug Hotline can be contacted toll free @ 1-800-233-0393 or via the web @ www.usantidoping.org. It is recommended that if there is any doubt concerning a substance that the hotline be contacted.

As an athlete, what can I do to better prepare myself for an international trip?
The best thing to do when preparing to travel internationally is to become familiar with your destination. Country information can be obtained from government web sites such as the www.cdc.gov, www.usembassy.state.gov, and www.travel.state.gov. Also, you should communicate with the Medical Staff member who will be traveling with the team as this will allow them to be fully prepared to meet your medical needs as well as offer additional travel tips.

What type of information should I provide to the Medical Staff Member traveling with the team overseas?
When you are contacted by the Medical Staff Member who will be traveling with you overseas, you should relay any information regarding current injuries and treatments, medications you may be taking, prescription or otherwise, past injuries, and any other medical conditions that you may have. All information is confidential and used strictly to provide you with highest quality medical care. Regardless of the extent of your medical history or health condition, it is recommended that you touch base with the Medical team member prior to travel.

Other than while at USA Diving meets, is there someone on the Medical Staff I can contact to discuss an injury and proper follow-up?
The USA Diving Medical Team encourages you to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have in regards to an injury.
