At the 2002 World Cup Trials in Cleveland, Ohio, Kyle Prandi broke an 11-year-old American record. Prandi's score of 104.76 on his second attempt set the mark for the highest recorded score on a dive by a U.S. diver. Olympic gold medallist Mark Lenzi set the previous record of 101.85 at the 1991 U.S. Indoor National Championships in Minneapolis.

The record-setting dive, a back 3 ½ somersault pike (207B) with a 3.6 degree of difficulty was good for four-10s, one-9.5 and two-9s. In 1991, Lenzi performed a reverse 3 ½ tuck on 3-meter with a 3.5 degree of difficulty. Watch Prandi's dive.

On women's platform, Kimiko Hirai Soldati performed a solid reverse 2 1/2 somersault pike (305B) with a 2.9 degree of difficulty for four-10s, one 9.5 and two-9s. Watch Soldati's dive.


In 1996, Mary Ellen Clark (platform, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Jenny Keim (3-meter, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Melisa Moses (3-meter, Orange Park, Fla.), Becky Ruehl (platform, Lakeside Park, Ky.), Scott Donie (3-meter, Houston, Texas), Patrick Jeffrey (platform, Orlando, Fla.), Mark Lenzi (3-meter, Bloomington, Ind.) and David Pichler (platform, Butler, Penn.) went up against the world in the Games of the XXVIth Olympiad in Atlanta, Ga. Led by Ron O'Brien, Randy Ableman and Micki King, the Amerian squad won two medals in front of the home crowd while every member of the team made it to the finals.
