Biography

The daughter of Xiaoping Ni and Ningfang Liao, Chen came to the United States when she was 19 and became a U.S. citizen in 2011. Chen started gymnastics at age 5 and began diving at age 7. She attended an international competition in the United States when she was 11. Chen is pursuing a masters degree in counseling education at IUPUI. While a student-athlete at IUPUI, Chen won two NCAA titles on platform (2010, 2012), becoming the school’s first NCAA champion. Although she is a 10-meter diver, she says she is afraid of heights.
