Biography:
Cole is the son of Kay Young and Chris Dring as well as Tim Young and Mary Ellen. He also has two siblings, Ethan Young and Peter Dring. Cole began diving in 1997 and his favorite dive is a 305B. He finds the hardest part about training 10-meter is doing so without any divers his age. However, Cole says his club divers always keep him smiling (When he’s not training, Cole coaches the novice divers at McCormick Divers.).

His masters thesis is focused on scoring diving mathematically and enjoys being on several sides of the sport as an athlete, researcher and coach. He is also part of the biorobotics research group at UC Irvine, designing devices to investigate motor learning and assisting in physical rehabilitation.

He learned to surf after moving to California in 2009. He says he is extremely jumpy and scares easily.
