USA Diving coaches and officials stay active in the sport by coaching and volunteering at events. Membership costs vary from $15 to $125 depending on your level. USA Diving coach members must be safety certified, have first aid and CPR certification and pass a background check. (The fee for the background check is $16 and is processed when the membership is purchased. The background check is required every two years). View the Becoming a Coach page to learn more.
Introductory Coach: $15
Introductory Coaches assist Full Coach members or Coach Instructors at practices and USA Diving Future Champion Events. They may judge at Future Champion meets with approval of meet director, but must be supervised by USA Diving Full Coach or Coach Instructor with a current status at all times. Introductory coach members are also automatically covered by USA Diving’s liability insurance for coaching activities during scheduled and supervised practices of USA Diving member clubs and for USA Diving sanctioned competitions.
This policy provides a minimum of $1,000,000 Commercial General Liability for those claims brought by third parties alleging third parties alleging bodily injury, property damage, personal or advertising injury caused by your acts or omissions. Certifications
Introductory Coaches must be safety certified (online portion only; good for three membership cycles) and certified in First Aid and CPR.
Restrictions
Introductory Coaches must be at least 16 years old, and can only coach at practice and Future Champion meets with their club’s Full Coach or Coach Instructor present. An Introductory Coach cannot be a coach of record.
Coach Instructor: $60
Coach instructors may coach recreational divers, future champions, high school or act as a Full Coach assistant (part or full time) at meets where a Full Coach Member is present. He or she has access to the pool deck at national championships and may coach, judge, and act as the coach of record at Future Champions Meets. He or she may also attend Junior and Senior meets to judge and assist a Full Coach Member on the deck. Coach members are automatically covered by USA Diving’s liability insurance for coaching activities during scheduled and supervised practices of USA Diving member clubs and for USA Diving sanctioned competitions.

Full Coach members may coach all levels and disciplines of diving and may also serve as the coach of record for all meets at any level.
