2026 Junior Worlds Day One: Two 1-Meter Finalists and Top-Five Showing in Synchro

USA's Cristiano Garcia and Evan Kerim placed fifth in boys synchronized 3-meter and Ella Guo and Alden Charette both advanced to the girls B (14-15) 1-meter final on Friday, the first day of the 2026 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships in Rijeka, Croatia. 
 

Guo scored 292.20 points to finish eighth on 1-meter, with Charette placing 11^th with 286.10 points. Mexico's Mia Cueva scored 335.45 to edge twin sister Lia by five-hundredths of a point for gold. China's Chen Xiangling took the bronze. 
 
Garcia and Kerim finished with 244.44 points for fifth in a boys 3-meter synchro contest won by Canadians Samuel McCaffrey and Kash Tarasoff with a score of 281.82. The Russian duo of Matvei Pomoshnikov and Ivan Sautin scored 272.46 for silver, and the German team of William Ackmann and Finn Awe were third at 266.43. 

Guo and Garcia were also slated to dive in the mixed team event on Friday, but the event was postponed until Monday due to weather.  

Kerim will dive again Saturday in the boys A (16-18) individual 3-meter event along with Mik Schwickert. Sophia Narbut and Callie Fox will represent the United States in Saturday's girls synchronized platform event.
