    Biography:
The son of Doug and Susan Schmidt, Darien has three younger siblings: Dathan, Daxton and Dallan. He is engaged to Alexandra Mata. Teammate Michael Hixon will be the best man at his wedding.

Darian started diving at age 14. He quit after his freshman year in high school, but his parents encouraged him to start up again after Mark Lenzi took over the club program at Indiana. Once Darian found out that Lenzi was an Olympic champion, he was hooked on the sport. Schmidt now trains four to five hours a day six days a week, and his favorite dive is 5337D on 3-meter.

Schmidt earned a degree in criminal justice from Indiana University, and both his parents graduated from IU as well. Darian would like to become a diving coach after his competitive days are over. His interests include cars, motorcycles and fishing. He would love to meet Lebron James. If he could have any profession, he says he would like to be an NBA basketball player because he would love to see what it's like to play against NBA players.
