Hsu, Jensen, Wright, Tyler and Weinrich earn Gold on Day Three of the Junior Pan American Championships

Day 3 of the 2021 UANA Junior Pan American Diving Championships competition on Saturday, October 9, ended with 21 newly crowned medalists.
In the girl’s D 1-meter competition Lia Cueva Lobato (MEX) was named Champion with a total score of 236.60. Mia Cueva Lobato (MEX) won the silver medal with a total score of 221.85, and Evelyn Wang (USA) earned the bronze medal with a total score of 213.55. When it came to the boy’s D platform Delaney Hsu (USA) placed 1st with a total score of 243.25. Eloi Houle (CAN) placed 2nd with a total score of 241.85, and 3rd place went to Leonardo Yañez Rodriguez (MEX) with a total score of 227.20.
Afternoon competition at the 2021 UANA Junior Pan American Diving Championships began with simultaneous events for girl’s C 1-meter and boy’s C 3-meter. For the girl’s C 1-meter, Kayla Jensen (USA) was named Champion with a total score of 285.90. Lila Stewart (CAN) earned the silver medal with a total score of 254.10, and the bronze went to Juliet Radich (USA) with a total score of 252.20. When it came to the boy’s C 3-meter, Luc Goertzen (CAN) won the gold medal with a total score of 384.55. Juan Manuel López Gómez (COL) won the silver medal with a total score of 353.00, and the bronze medal was earned by Gabriel Vázquez Cio (MEX) with a total score of 352.10.
In the girl's B 3-Meter, Peruvian dive Anna Ricci took gold with a score of 345.3. Alexa Fung (CAN) earned silver with a score of 335.3 and Avery Worobel (USA) earned the bronze with a final score of 327.
Daryn Wright (USA) earned her second gold and third medal of the competition in the Girls A Platform. Wright won the event with a score of 399.35, with U.S. teammate Jaiden Lynch earning silver with a score of 393.65. The event’s podium was rounded out with Katelyn FUNG (CAN) clinching bronze with a final score of 384.85.
The final event of the day saw the duo of Carson Tyler (USA) and Maxwell Weinrich (USA) earning the gold medal in the Boy’s A/B 3-Meter event with a score of 288.21. This marks the second gold for both, as Weinrich clinched the 3-meter individual event while Tyler earned gold in the 1-meter. The Columbian team of Miguel Benjumea and Juan Ramirez took silver scoring 267.18 while Brazil’s Rafael Almeida and Rafael Araujo placed third with 262.2 points.
Heading into the final day of competition, Team USA leads the medal count with 26 total medals. Sunday’s competition will begin with the Boy’s D 1-Meter at 10:30 am PST.
