Grannis/Andriyuk, Giese/Kenrick Win Synchro Titles at Junior Nationals

Morgantown, West Virginia –  Avery Giese and Gianna Kenrick of Mission Viejo Nadadores edged out Katerina Hoffman and Violet Williamson of Knight Diving Academy by less than a point to take gold in the girls’ Group A/B synchronized 3-meter event on Sunday at the USA Diving Junior National Championships. Giese and Kenrick scored 260.16 in the tightest contest of the day.  Gianna Lawrence of Knight Diving Academy and Kendall Jensen of The Woodlands Diving Academy scored 252.18 for bronze, just 7.98 points out of first place.

In the boy’s Group A/B synchronized platform event Nathaniel Grannis of Dominion Dive Club and Misha Andriyuk of Stanford Diving won the gold medal with a score of 283.53 points.  RIpfest Diving’s Grant Cates and teammate Noah Turner earned the silver medal with a score of 269.58.  Third place went to Mission Viejo Nadadores with Valentino Nieto and Grant Schneider taking home the bronze with a score of 249.12 points.

Competition at the USA Diving Junior National Championships continues through August 7. On Monday, the 14-15 boys are in action on 3-meter, the 14-15 girls on platform, and the 16-18 boys and girls on 1-meter.
