Team USA Takes Home Nine Medals from 2025 FISU World University Games

Team USA took home nine medals – four silver and five bronze – from the 2025 FISU World University Games in Berlin, Germany.
Avery Giese (University of Kentucky) and Luke Sitz (Southern Methodist University) won individual bronze medals in the women’s 1-meter and men’s 3-meter events respectively.
Sitz and Josh Sollenberger (Indiana University) captured a silver medal in the men’s 3-meter synchro and Sophie McAfee (Purdue University) and Kaden Springfield (Purdue University) capped competition off with a silver in the mixed 10-meter synchro event.
The team of Ellie Joyce (University of North Carolina) and Lanie Gutch (University of North Carolina) finished second in women’s 3-meter synchronized event with Joyce also earning a bronze medal in the mixed 3-meter synchro alongside Max Miller (Purdue University).
Gutch, paired with Kayleigh Clark (Florida State University), won a bronze medal in the women’s 10-meter synchronized event.
The U.S. wrapped up the competition with a women’s team silver medal and a men’s team bronze, earned through consistent performances throughout the week.
Alongside Giese’s 1-meter bronze and two synchro podium finishes, the U.S. women delivered several standout results, including McAfee’s fourth place and Taylor Fox (University of Texas at Austin) sixth place finishes in the platform event. Katerina Hoffman (Rutgers University) added a fourth-place finish on 1-meter springboard and fifth on 3-meter.
On the men’s side, Max Weinrich (Indiana University) and Andrew Bennett (University of Minnesota) placed seventh and ninth on platform, respectively. Miller earned fifth on 1-meter springboard and ninth on 3-meter springboard. Holden Higbie (Purdue University) finished seventh on 1-meter.
