Host COM Aquatics wins another medal at U.S. Open Championships

The final two medals were awarded Sunday at the 2022 USA Diving U.S. Open Championships presented by Rocket Fizz at COM Aquatics in Midland, Texas.

Maxwell Weinrich (Dominion Dive Club) won the men’s platform, and Samantha Pickens (COM Aquatics) claimed the women’s 1-meter title.

Weinrich won his second U.S. Open title after winning Saturday’s 3-meter springboard competition. Weinrich's highest scoring dive of the platform competition came in the fifth round when he scored 77.55 points on his back 3 ½  somersault tuck. Weinrich's total score was 416.05. Silver went to Lyle Yost (Unattached) with a score of 367.70, and Sam Oelerich (Ripfest) earned bronze with a score of 336.60.

Pickens swept the springboard events at the U.S. Open after already winning the 3-meter title. In the women’s 1-meter, Pickens maintained the lead throughout each round to win with a score of 279.65.  Kyndal Knight (Kentucky Diving Club) placed second with a score of 253.45, and Anna Kwong (Unattached) was third with a total score of 249.55.

In total, 10 titles were awarded at the 2022 USA Diving U.S. Open Championships presented by Rocket Fizz.
