Mission Viejo Nadadores Win Two More Synchro Titles at Junior Nationals

Jake Welsh and Zach Welsh won a junior national synchronized diving title for the second day in a row, and two of their Mission Viejo Nadadores teammates also won synchro gold on day seven of the USA Diving TYR Junior National Championships.

The Welsh brothers won the boys’ 14-18 synchronized platform gold medal on Saturday, a day after winning the synchronized 3-meter title. Their Mission Viejo teammates Avery Giese and Ella Roselli won gold in 14-18 girls’ synchronized 3-meter.

Giese and Roselli scored 273.24 points to win the girls’ synchronized 3-meter gold. Their Mission Viejo teammates Anna Lemkin and Taylor Fox scored 254.46 for a 3-meter synchro silver after winning gold in synchronized platform on Friday. Jacqueline Chen and Armina Li of Arrow Dive Club took third at 238.47 points.

The Welsh brothers scored 299.76 points on platform to edge Kaden Springfield and Tyler Wills of the Indiana International School of Diving for gold. Springfield and Wills took silver with 292.86 points. Aidan Wang (Montgomery Dive Club) and Kyle Ly (McCormick Divers) scored 270.18 points for third.

Competition at the USA Diving TYR Junior National Championships continues through August 1. On Sunday, the 14-15 boys are in action on 3-meter, the 14-15 girls on platform, and the 16-18 boys and girls on 1-meter.
