Cook and Bacon Win Silver at World Aquatics World Cup Super Final

Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook came through with a silver medal in 3-meter synchro at the 2024 World Aquatics World Cup Super Final held April 19-21 in Xi’an, China.

Cook and Bacon scored 284.10 points for silver, finishing just .57 points behind gold medalists Anabelle Smith and Maddison Keeney of Australia. Italy’s Elena Bertocchi and Chiara Pellacani took bronze at 268.92. Cook and Bacon were just .78 points ahead of the Italians heading into the last round before coming through with 70.20 points on a front 2 ½ with one twist that kept them solidly in the silver medal position and just over a half a point behind the gold medalists. The U.S. duo medaled in all three World Cup meets this year, having also won silver in Montreal and picking up gold in Berlin.

Bacon also competed individually on 3-meter and finished 12th with 255.15 points. China’s Chen Yiwen scored 376.05 for gold.

Zach Cooper and Max Flory scored 363.90 for sixth in the men’s 10-meter synchro event, which was won by China’s Lian Junjie and Yang Hao at 472.92. Cooper placed 15th individually with 366.65 points.

Brandon Loschiavo also competed in the individual 10-meter event. He advanced to the finals and finished 10th with 387.60 points. China’s Yang took the individual gold with 557.60 points.

Tyler Downs and Greg Duncan finished seventh in men’s synchronized 3-meter with 360.48 points, with Chian’s Long Daoyi and Wang Zongyuan scoring 474.75 for gold. Wang also won the individual 3-meter gold with 525.00 points; Downs was ninth individually at 377.20.

Emilie Moore and Kaylee Bishop represented the U.S. in women’s synchronized 10-meter and finished sixth with 237.06 points. China’s Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan scored 364.86 for gold.

In the mixed team event, the U.S. squad of Cook, Cooper, Downs and Moore finished fifth. China won the team event with 500.75 points.
