Mission Viejo Nadadores Capture Two Synchro Titles at Junior Nationals

Divers from the Mission Viejo Nadadores won a pair of gold medals in synchronized diving events Friday at the USA Diving TYR Junior National Championships in Mission Viejo, Calif.

Anna Lemkin and Taylor Fox teamed up to win gold in 14-18 girls’ synchronized platform, while Jake Welsh and Zach Welsh paired together for gold in 14-18 boys’ synchronized 3-meter.

The Welsh brothers scored 311.94 points to win the boys’ 3-meter synchro gold, edging out Max Miller and Luke Sitz of the Woodlands Diving Academy. Miller and Sitz took silver with 302.91 points, while Joshua Sollenberger (Indiana International School of Diving) and Dominic Roberto (American Flyers Diving) were third at 256.62

Mission Viejo took the top three spots in the girls’ synchronized platform contest. Lemkin and Fox scored 267.96 points, while their club teammates Avery Giese and Jaiden Lynch took silver with 248.55 points. Savannah Watts and Jordyn Warner finished third with 217.80 points.

Competition at the USA Diving TYR Junior National Championships continues through August 1. Saturday’s competition features four individual preliminaries along with 14-18 boys’ synchronized platform and 14-18 girls’ synchronized 3-meter finals.
