James Lichtenstein and Kaylea Arnett won medals at the World Aquatics High Diving World Cup in Bahrain
Lichtenstein, Arnett Win Medals at High Diving World Cup in Bahrain
James Lichtenstein and Kaylea Arnett led the U.S. high divers with a pair of medals on Sunday in Bahrain at the first of two 2024 World Aquatics High Diving World Cup meets.
Lichtenstein came away with silver in men’s 27-meter high diving, while Arnett took bronze in women’s 20-meter high diving.
Lichtenstein finished 406.20 points on his four dives, just 1.8 points behind gold medalist Constantin Popovici of Romania. Great Britain’s Aidan Heslop scored 403.80 for bronze.
Lichtenstein scored 127.20 points on a back quintuple somersault and had 90 points on a reverse triple somersault in the final two rounds on Sunday.
USA’s David Colturi finished seventh with 367.20 points. Scott Lazeroff scored 265.90 points for 16th, and Matt Cooper was 19th at 240.65.
Arnett finished with 306.40 points on her four dives to take the women’s bronze. Canadians took the top two spots with Molly Carlson winning gold at 324.20 and Simone Leathead scoring 307.80.
Arnett closed out her list with 78 points on an inward triple somersault with a half twist, with her highest scoring dive coming in Saturday’s second round when she came through with 86.70 points on a front triple somersault with a half twist.
Meili Carpenter finished fifth with 298.95, while Maya Kelly was sixth at 298.10. Ellie Smart placed 13th with 248.80 points.
The World Aquatics High Diving World Cup continues with stop two October 11-13 in Brasilia, Brazil.
