Cranford 8th, Roselli 11th in 10-Meter Final; Dyer Advances on 3-Meter at World Championships

Bayleigh Cranford (Jamestown, N.C.) finished eighth and Ella Roselli (Newport Beach, Calif.) placed 11th in the women’s 10-meter final Thursday at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. Collier Dyer (Littleton, Colo.) also advanced out of the men’s 3-meter preliminary.
Cranford, who competed in three events at the World Championships, finished with 329.50 points in the women’s 10-meter final. She scored 72.60 and 76.50 points on her final two dives – a back 3 1/2 somersaults tuck and a reverse 3 ½ somersaults tuck. Those same two dives earned her a spot in the final. In the afternoon semifinals, Cranford was in 13th place with two dives remaining, and only the top 12 would advance. She closed out her list with 74.25 and 76.50 points, moving her up to eighth place in the semifinals.
Roselli scored 290.20 points in the final. She earned 61.60 points on an inward 2 ½ somersaults pike and added 67.20 points on her armstand double back somersault with 1 ½ twists in the final. Roselli qualified after placing seventh in the semifinals, when she scored more than 60 points on four of her five dives.
China’s Chen Yuxi won the women’s 10-meter gold with 430.50 points. Germany’s Pauline Pfeif scored 367.10 points for silver, and Xie Peiling of China took bronze at 358.20.
Dyer scored 381.75 points to finish 15th out of 65 men’s 3-meter divers. The top 18 from the preliminary qualified for Friday’s semifinal. Dyer was in 28th place after his first two dives before scoring 75.25 points on a reverse 3 ½ somersaults tuck to move up to 10th place. He held onto a qualifying position for the duration of the preliminary.
Max Flory (Fairfax, Va.) also competed on 3-meter and finished 34th with 345.60 points, highlighted by 73.10 points on a front 2 ½ somersaults with two twists.
The World Aquatics Championships continue through August 3. Women’s 3-meter competition begins Friday with preliminaries (9 p.m. ET on Thursday). Sophie Verzyl and Lily Witte will represent the United States in that event. Dyer will compete in the 3-meter semifinals (2 a.m. ET), with the final set for that evening (5:30 a.m. ET).
