Henninger Takes Gold in 3 Meter at Junior Pan American Games

Quinn Henninger (Mile High Diving) earned the Gold Medal today in the Men’s 3-Meter Springboard at the inaugural Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia. Henninger saved his highest scoring dives for his last two dives earning a 73.5 on his reverse 3 and ½ somersaults tuck and 78.75 on his Reverse 1½ Somersaults 3½ Twists Free to solidify the top spot for a total score of  414.65, six points ahead of Cuba’s Laydel Dominguez Cervantes. Teammate, Jack Matthews placed sixth in the finals.

 

This marks Henninger’s second medal of the event having earned the bronze medal in the mixed team event with teammates Carson Tyler (Moss Farms Diving), Kaylee Bishop (Coral Springs Diving) and Emilie Moore (Coral Springs Diving).

 

Joslyn Oakley (Carolina Diving Academy) added to Team USA’s medal count today as well by earning the silver medal in the Women’s 1-Meter Springboard earning a total score of 252.3, 24 points behind Cuba’s Anisley Garcia Navarro. Teammate, Daryn Wright (Indiana International School of Diving) earned fourth in the finals less than three points behind Mexico’s Steffanie Madrigal Velasquez.

 

Competition continues tomorrow with Jack Matthews and Carson Tyler in the Men’s 1-Meter Springboard and Kaylee Bishop and Daryn Wright in the Women’s 10-Meter Platform.
