“This settlement marks a pivotal shift in collegiate athletics. While it addresses important financial equity issues for athletes in certain sports, it introduces unintended consequences for the Olympic development pipeline in the U.S., with diving and other non-revenue sports directly in the crosshairs. At the end of the day, we recognize that every institution understands its own situation best and that each will handle the process in its own unique manner. We trust that they will do the best they can to support current and future student athletes.
